Life Science – an innovative sector with exciting investment opportunities

INSIGHT. Sweden is renowned for its strong position in life science – a tradition of research and development coupled with a favourable ecosystem that fosters collaboration and innovation to drive progress. With Sciety, you can invest in leading Swedish life science companies that aim to be acquired or listed on the stock exchange within a few years.

Life science is Sweden’s second-largest export sector – where industry exports have increased by a remarkable 60 % over the past decade and continue to grow. Are you searching for the next breakthrough in life science and digital health? We select and invest in cutting-edge companies and offer you the opportunity to participate on equal terms.

Our investments range from companies developing high-tech solutions in areas such as DNA analysis to those creating new pharmaceuticals or analytical tools to streamline healthcare processes. What unites the companies we invest in is their contribution to significant advancements in healthcare and life science and potential for high returns.

Swedish companies at the forefront of life science

With an ageing population and an increased prevalence of lifestyle-related diseases, the demand for pharmaceuticals, innovative medical technology, and digital solutions is on the rise.

In the Nordic region, where there is a high percentage of senior citizens, there is a strong focus on research and innovation related to ageing and longevity. Several Swedish companies are developing medical technology and medications to improve the quality of life for our ageing population.

Exciting research is underway in the field of Longevity, both in Sweden and internationally, where scientists are investigating biological processes related to ageing. The goal is to develop treatments that can extend health span, meaning the number of years lived in good health.

Swedish companies are also at the forefront of precision medicine and genomics. Sweden has a strong tradition in genomics research, thanks partly to robust biobanks and population registers. Consequently, numerous Swedish companies focus on precision medicine and precision oncology, developing personalized treatments based on genetic profiles. For instance, researchers at KTH have compiled an atlas of known cancer biomarkers, enabling earlier and more accurate diagnosis and treatment.

The Sciety team has substantial expertise in business development, company management, digital health, research, clinical work, and investments.

We are proud of the impact we have made thus far, having invested more than 1 billion SEK in 25 companies since our start in 2016. 8 of these companies have since been acquired or listed on the stock exchange, demonstrating our track record of success.

Example – portfolio company Capitainer

Sciety made its first investment in Capitainer in 2020 when the company was in the final stages of developing a groundbreaking product enabling at-home blood sampling. The samples could then be sent by regular mail to the lab for analysis.

The company’s sampling product was successfully used for large-scale screening in Region Västerbotten a year later. Thousands of residents had their levels of COVID-19 antibodies measured remotely and with clinical accuracy.

Since then, the company has expanded its product portfolio with several groundbreaking solutions that enable remote blood sampling with clinical precision. There are ongoing implementations at clinical laboratories and hospitals in Europe and the USA.

Capitainer’s products align well with two megatrends – remote healthcare solutions and precision medicine. The company continues to evolve rapidly and has generated significant interest within the industry.
